An investigation is underway after New Jersey state troopers pulled over a U-Haul moving truck transporting six people, including two children, in its cargo area.
Troopers stopped the van on the Garden State Parkway in Toms River just after noon Sunday — after they received a 911 call from inside the back of the vehicle, officials said.
“The 911 call did come from inside the U-Haul. Troopers located and did stop the vehicle and inside they found four adults and two juveniles,” New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez told the Post.
Kidnapping has been ruled out in the incident, and charges have yet to be filed, police said.
It’s unclear why the four adults and two children were in the back of the van, and why they called the police while in traffic on the 65-mph parkway.
The identities of the passengers and driver were not released.
It is against the law to ride in the back of a box truck.
